ABSTRACT
The article presents library news briefs. Canadian Freedom to Read Week is February 21 through 27, 2010. The education report card Quality Counts 2010: Fresh Course, Swift Current—Momentum and Challenges in the New Surge Toward Common Standards was issued by the trade publication "Education Week." Camila Alire, president of the American Library Association (ALA), has launched the initiative Family Literary Focus to encourage families to learn to read together.
