The article highlights the decision by the Macomb County Sheriff's Office to apply the new standards to work inside the Macomb County Jail concerning sexual abuse. According to Michelle Sanborn, jail administrator, they are working toward compliance with the new standards due to their interest of doing the right thing. Moreover, a Bureau of Justice Statistics (BJS) survey shows that only 1,533 allegations of sexual assault nationwide were reported to jail officials in 2006.
