ABSTRACT
The article focuses on Maersk Alabama Captain Richard Phillips. Phillips and his container ship were attacked by Somali pirates in 2009. He was held captive but was rescued by U.S. Navy Sea, Air, Land (SEAL) teams. He has taken a leave of absence but not before testifying before U.S. Congress in April 2009 on the need to arm U.S. merchant ships to withstand pirate attacks. He has finished his book titled "A Captain's Duty," which relays the story of his capture.
