ABSTRACT
This article reports on the lawsuit filed by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) against Goldman Sachs over its failure to disclose to investors the role an opportunistic hedge fund played in choosing the assets underlying a collateralized debt obligation (CDO). The CDO called Abacus 2007-ACI was worth two billion U.S. dollars. A SEC proposal to require more detailed information on asset-backed securities has implications for Wall Street firms. Particular focus is given to CoreLogic's database which is aimed at mortgage servicers.
