ABSTRACT
The article implies that renaissance in geothermal exploration in Oregon, has been spurred by cheaper technology, stimulus funding and interest in renewable power, after decades of failed attempts. In February 2010, a 280-kilowatt demonstration-sized power plant at Oregon Institute of Technology (OIT) became the first functioning geothermal power plant in the state since 1982. 2,195 potential sources of geothermal energy have been identified by OIT in Oregon.
