In this article the author reflects on the changes in food television (TV) advertising directed to children and emphasizes the need for improvement in food marketing. Compared to the 1950s, TV advertisements during the 1970s featured sugary foods aimed to attract children consumers. The U.S. Federal Trade Commission (FTC) offered a conclusion that any kind of advertising directed to children are considered unfair because children do not have enough understanding of the real intent of advertising.
