ABSTRACT
The article offers information on a joint initiative between the counties of Charlotte and Mecklenburg in North Carolina to seek funding from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act to establish a shared broadband network. According to Dennis Baucom, director of Charlotte's Network Technology Services (NTS) Division, they sought for stimulus funding to accelerate the program. Funding will be released by the National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA).
