ABSTRACT
The article offers ideas on applying the response intervention program (RTI) to math instruction. It states that those who teach it tend to disagree on how the subject should be taught. According to a survey by the National Mathematics Advisory Panel (NMAP), students learn best if lessons are tailored to them. It suggests goals, including using appropriate examples, explaining how math can be used in everyday life, and using a definitive, regular methodology. It advises tailoring RTI according to the NMAP's findings through its three-tier approach.
