ABSTRACT
The article analyzes the report of Neil Barofsky, the special inspector general charged with overseeing the 700 billion U.S. dollars in lending through the Troubled Asset Relief Program, claiming that taxpayers may not be repaid on their TARP investments. Attacking the Treasury Department, he accused them of lack of transparency with taxpayers seeing TARP with anger and distrust. Also cited in the report is the 454 billion U.S. dollars spent in TARP and 47 TARP recipients have paid back 73 billion U.S. dollars.
