ABSTRACT
The article reports on the merger and acquisition activity in transforming the inefficient electrical grid into a smart grid in the U.S. The smart grid is a modernized electrical transmission system that uses two-way digital technology in order to deliver energy-use information to electric utililities and supports renewable sources. Based on the research by Pike Research LLC, updating the electric grid infrastructure and its implementation will make a 200 billion dollar market growth by 2015.
