ABSTRACT
The article focuses on the promotion of religion by teachers and religious groups in public schools in the U.S. The author examines conservative religious groups that engage in religious coercion of students by discouraging instruction on the separation of church and state, pressuring teachers to educate students about intelligent design, and downplaying criticisms of the political actions of the U.S. The role of the group Americans United for Separation of Church and State (AU) is presented.
