ABSTRACT
The article looks at the U.S. economy and the global financial crisis that began in 2009, free-market capitalism, and the fact that Americans blame the economic crisis on the government. The unemployment rate in the U.S. from 2008 to 2010 is discussed as is the slow rate of economic recovery and gross domestic product (GDP) since the economic crisis began. Other topics include the federal government's stimulus program, the bailout of companies, and the national debt.
