The article reports on the need for preparation and response to solve the increased incidents of oil spills, offshore and deepwater drilling rigs. According to retired Coast Guard Admiral Thad W. Allen, the National Oil and Hazardous Substances Pollution Contingency Plan, a federal draft for oil spill response, and the hazardous substance release, are important for deepwater drilling. It adds that the future drills must be more realistic for the simulation of catastrophic spills.
