ABSTRACT
The article discusses how the 2010 oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico led the U.S. government drop the climate bill. It states that expansion of offshore drilling which was expected to attract the Senators who were reluctant to put a price on carbon got a set back when the oil spill occurred. It mentions that U.S. President Barack Obama thought of decreasing carbon emissions, oil drilling and nuclear power subsidies which became difficult after the oil spill.
