The article provides a market assessment of tribal casinos in the U.S. as of 2009. Of the 336 Indian tribal entities in the U.S., 237 operate casinos and for fiscal 2008, total revenues from 456 Native American casinos and gaming operations in the U.S. were 26.8 billion U.S. dollars. The tribal casino industry creates 600,000 jobs nationwide, generating 7.6 billion dollars in federal revenues and 2.1 billion dollars in state government revenue. A survey revealed that two thirds of respondents believe that casinos are a major part of the Indian economy.
