ABSTRACT
In this article the author discusses aspects of business ethics and the social responsibility of business. The article was written to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the founding of "Business Ethics Quarterly," a journal dedicated to an exploration of that discipline. A number of topics are addressed including the activities of corporate ethics officers, that official and his relation with a company board of directors, and factors that can result in an inadequate system of corporate governance.
