ABSTRACT
In this article the author discusses aspects of business ethics and the social responsibility of business. The article was written to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the founding of "Business Ethics Quarterly," a journal dedicated to an exploration of that discipline. The central focus of the article is the authors involvement with the Society for Business Ethics. A number of topics are addressed including globalization and business ethics in a variety of cultures, microfinance and the reduction of poverty in developing countries, and corporate obligations to the poor.
