Oral acyclovir lowered risk for developmental delays in infants with HSV

The article focuses on the study which revealed that infants with herpes simplex virus who underwent suppressive oral acyclovir therapy for 6 months were less likely to suffer from neurodevelopmental outcomes and obtained fewer skin lesion recurrences when compared with those assigned placebo, presented by Dr. David W. Kimberlin during the Infectious Diseases Society of America in Vancouver, British Columbia from October 21 to 24, 2010.
