ABSTRACT
The article discusses the cases of cytomegalovirus (CMV) retinitis in children infected with human immunodeficiency virus (HIV). It cites the case of a 13-year old HIV-infected boy that is undergoing antiretroviral therapy (ART), which consists of zidovudine (AZT), lamivudine (3TC) and nevirapine (NVP). The boy has recently experienced sudden onset vision impairment. It suggests that patients with HIV should be regularly examined by an ophthalmologist.
