ABSTRACT
The article reports on the plan of the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) to change the way it calculates the possible energy savings and greenhouse gas emissions reductions from stringent energy efficiency standards for consumer and commercial products in 2010. The use of full fuel cycle (FFC) is being considered by the Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (EERE) as part of the proposal. The National Academy of Sciences (NAS) has recommended the proposed change. EERE noted the benefit of the FFC measurement to its analyses.
