The article offers guidelines in using social media as a marketing tool. It talks about opening accounts in social media networks such as Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn, using profile names. The use of one's real name for Twitter and LinkedIn and a personal profile as well as a business fan page in Facebook are suggested for easier transition from online conversation into a face-to-face encounter. It suggests checking Web site statistics to see if traffic is being generated, to evaluate which topics generate the most activity, and adjust accordingly.
