ABSTRACT
The article focuses on the offshore drilling plans in the Arctic Ocean after the explosion of British Petroleum's Deep Water Horizon oil rig in the Gulf of Mexico. It states that Arctic development will promote safe drilling in the Gulf of Mexico. It relates the arguments for Arctic drilling which includes safety, drilling depth and low pressure. It adds that the Arctic drilling plan would demonstrate nonoccurrence of blowouts and it would not place risk to the fragile ecology of the region. INSET: The International Component.
