An article discussing the global goals and initiatives addressed by the U.S. and the European Union (EU) is presented. Examining how the economic partnership between the two governments has allowed them to pursue worldwide policy goals, the author details initiatives such as the First Stage Air Transport Agreement, which eased regulations on EU-U.S. transatlantic air travel, and EUJUST LEX, which promotes and strengthens the rule of law in Iraq. The economic advantages to cooperation between the U.S. and the EU and actions the two governments are taking in response to Iran's nuclear program are also addressed.
