The article presents the author's memories of summer vacation on Prince Edward Island (PEI) evoked by Hope Hambly's article which is in this issue. The idea that PEI was a vacation spot for wealthy travelers is mentioned. The growth of tourism after the Second World War in 1945 due to improvements in North AmericaN road systems and introduction of paid vacations for the working and middle classes is noted. The development of tourist marketing in the 1950s is mentioned. The tourism infrastructure on PEI is noted.
