ABSTRACT
The article explores the concerns raised by the casual furniture industry of the U.S. in line with the volatile prices of aluminum. Aluminum is used for frames and components of casual furniture. Cap Hendrix, president of Tropitone, relates the cost increases that casual furniture makers must absorb amidst a difficult economy. Rick Butler, vice president of product development for Telescope Casual Furniture, highlights the role of speculation and fear-mongering in the rising prices of aluminum.
