ABSTRACT
The article discusses ways on how emergency department (ED) nurses can effectively deal with suicidal patients. It states that ED nurses should make use of visual alerts and must place the patients under immediate observation. It mentions that the patient's clothing and belongings must be rapidly removed. It adds that opportunities for elopement can be minimized by putting the patient in an area that is far from exits and with decreased stimulation.
