ABSTRACT
The article looks at the challenges to Western intervention in Libya which could involve the enforcement of a no-fly zone over Libya and arming rebel forces. Libyan leader Colonel Muammar Qadhafi has strengthened the defense of the capital city of Tripoli and mobilised his forces to retake cities controlled by the rebels. Among the military options being considered by the U.S., Europe, and the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) is a direct air strikes against Tripoli.
