ABSTRACT
The article discusses the findings of research about the incidence and types of cancer among people with human immunodeficiency virus/acquired immune deficiency syndrome (HIV/AIDS) in the U.S. According to researchers from the National Cancer Institute (NCI) and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), cases of AIDS-defining cancers have decreased significantly from the pre- and late-highly active anti-retroviral therapy (HAART) period. Meanwhile, the cases of non-AIDS-defining cancers increased between the early and late periods.
