ABSTRACT
The article relates the visit of California Governor and Republican Party presidential candidate Ronald Reagan to New Hampshire in 1976. In a speech he delivered in Keene, he stated that there is nothing in his plan that would require states to have either a sales tax or an income tax. He said that around one-third of federal revenues come from the federal personal income tax. A portion of such tax may be earmarked and kept in each state. He also delivered speeches in Dublin, Jaffrey, and Peterborough.
