ABSTRACT
The article reports on Sex and Relationship Education guidelines which were introduced at the beginning of the 21st century in England, Scotland and Wales to promote the teaching of comprehensive sex education in schools in Great Britain. A discussion of research which suggests that parental involvement is also necessary in sex education is presented. In the article the author offers opinions on the role that parents can play in sex education for their children. Factors which research has found often hinder parents' willingness to become involved in sex education with their children are examined.
