ABSTRACT
This article discusses the challenge of going without eating meat at least one day a week in August 2011. The benefits of eating more vegetables, fruit and grains are discussed. Simple ideas about how to eat more foods that provide protein as an alternative to meat are offered. Ways of getting children interested in eating non-meat dishes are presented. It is suggested that one can easily create meatless versions of their regular meals by using eggs and soy crumbles, or leaving out the meat on pizza.
