This article presents information on modern gun-rights movements in the U.S., which the author says began with a demonstration by the Black Panthers in California in 1967. It focuses on the contributions of several groups to movements promoting the right to bear firearms in the U.S., including the National Rifle Association (NRA), the Ku Klux Klan, and the Founding Fathers of the U.S. Topics include gun control, the gun ownership rights of blacks, and the Second Amendment to the U.S. Constitution.
