ABSTRACT
The authors discuss the importance for authorities to identify the challenges in the integration towards renewable energy resources. They cite the report entitled "2010 Long-Term Reliability Assessment" released by the North American Electric Corp., which reveals the increasing number of wind and solar energy users. However, the authors point out the need for operators and regulators to manage the availability of flexible resources to ensure grid reliability and long-term results.
