ABSTRACT
This article focuses on the challenges posed by the multi-polar world to small economies such as New Zealand. It discusses the beginning of international trade focused mainly on extremely valuable goods 250 years ago. China and India are cited as among the five largest economies together with the U. S., Japan, and the European Union. It recommends that New Zealand establish relationship with the Big 5 and Australia and forge more trade pacts to cope with the evolving global economy.
