ABSTRACT
The article reports on the plan of the U.S. Department of Energy's (DOE) Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (EERE) to use full fuel cycle (FFC) measure of energy use and greenhouse emissions to estimate the possible energy and emissions impacts of energy efficiency standard for consumer appliances and commercial equipment. The EERE policy shift would increase some of the estimated benefits of such standards required by the Energy Policy and Conservation Act of 1975.
