ABSTRACT
The article discusses the important role played by parents, both in the education of their children and in the education system as a whole. It claims that parent advocacy is mainly driven by a desire to correct something for their children, rejection of a new policy being implemented, and a collective move to establish a new service or program. It cites that special education is the usual driver of individual parent advocacy.
