ABSTRACT
This article discusses the development of a system that measures academic performance known as Valor Añadido (VA). It compares the benefits of VA against other academic measurement tools, which often only analyze the proposed growth of academic achievement based on a given criteria of reference, according to the author. Several techniques used in the VA are explored, including the Teoría Respuesta al Ítem, which uses a longitudinal method to quantitatively compare gains in academic performance.
