ABSTRACT
The article discusses a report from Carbon Retirement, a British-based carbon offsetting firm, which suggests that more leading public companies of the country should acquire voluntary carbon offsets to lessen their contribution to climate change. Carbon Retirement estimates that only 0.1% of the 2.8 billion tonnes of total greenhouse gas emissions reported by FTSE100 companies in 2010 was covered by carbon offsets. Just 11 of the 21 actually disclosed the volume of assets they purchased.
