Best Operating Parameters of the Disc-Rotor Switched Reluctance Motor

The disc-rotor switched reluctance motor is a new type of the SRMs. It is designed by a particular way to increase the saliency ratio to its maximum possible value in order to achieve high torque density. It produces approximately double the torque of its equivalent conventional SRM. The paper examines the impact of the operating parameters on the output torque of this ultra high torque SRM which employ a disc rotor construction. The performance is studied at different conducting angles and for different advance switching on angles meanwhile the copper losses are monitored. From the simulation results the best operating parameters are selected which run the disc rotor SRM efficiently at the highest possible output torque with the lowest possible losses. At this best operating point the performance is studied extensively to assess this type of SRM precisely.
