MEASURING SUCCESS: The devil is in the details when evaluating the educational effectiveness of virtual schools

The article discusses the evaluation of educational effectiveness of virtual schools. Schools such as the North Carolina Virtual School, the WOLF school in Reno, Nevada, and the Kentucky Virtual School are concentrating on accountability by comparing online student achievement to in-person educational achievement. Benchmark testing, adequate yearly progress (AYP) and test scores are also discussed.
