ABSTRACT
The article discusses how to prevent infection risk and aerosol exposure of respiratory therapists (RTs). It relates on the study by S. I. McKeown and colleagues which showed the modification of high frequency oscillator circuit to prevent the risk of infection of healthcare providers who were exposed to aerosols. It says that non-vented mask with expiratory filter can reduce aerosol droplet exposure. Moreover, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends the use of N95 mask.
