ABSTRACT
The article offers information on the text given by barristers at Four New Square and Lincoln's Inn, Lucy Colter and Can Yeginsu respectfully on the nature of the procedural obligation under Article Two of the European Convention on Human Rights, at the joint ALBA-BEG summer conference held in Athens, Greece, on May 29-30, 2011. It examines how the obligation should be translated into domestic law, particularly in the coronial context. It highlights the case of Re McCaughey and another (Northern Ireland Human Rights Commission and others intervening, where inquest had to comply with the procedural obligations of article two of the Convention for the Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms.
