ABSTRACT
The article reports on the legal complaint filed by the Humane Society of the U.S. (HSUS) with the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) alleging the National Pork Producers Council (NPPC) violated the Federal Trade Commision Act with their deceptive advertising related to animal well-being. The NPPC's We Care initiative and Pork Quality Assurance Plus program are presented to allegedly mislead the public about its animal welfare record while allowing pigs to be crammed in crates.
