ABSTRACT
The author reflects on gun control in the United States. She notes how organizations such as the National Rifle Association (NRA) and individuals cite the Second Amendment of the U.S. Constitution when describing why they own guns. She states that gun control laws do not violate the Constitution, but instead prevent accidents and improper use. Other topics include civilian gun ownership rates, George Zimmerman, a Florida man who shot an unarmed teenager in 2012, and U.S. gun control history.
