ABSTRACT
The article focuses on the efforts being made by the government of Mexico to explore deepwater oil resources to increase its oil production. It mentions about the decline that has in been reported in Mexico's oil production and informs about the energy reform package that was approved by the Mexican Congress in 2008, which aims at increasing foreign investments in oil production. Also discussed is the deepwater oil exploration strategy of the company Pemex in the Gulf of Mexico (GoM).
