ABSTRACT
The article focuses on a two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict adopted by Israeli Prime Minister and leader of the Likud Party Benjamin Netanyahu in the 2000s. Topics discussed include Netanyahu's agreement to establish a new independent state of Palestine and his willingness to return the West Bank and the Gaza Strip territories to the people living in them, a declaration of principles signed by the foreign ministers of Israel and the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) Shimon Peres and Mamoud Abbas in August 1993 and the unsustainable balance of political power in Israel.
