ABSTRACT
The article discusses how the teaching of critical thinking is implemented at Indiana University School of Optometry. Realizing that compartmentalization is a hindrance to critical thinking, the college have incorporated problem based learning courses in the first two years of the program which relate disorders back to basic sciences. Instructions also highlight that clinical solution is not the ultimate goal, but rather an understanding of the underlying mechanisms of the problem.
