ABSTRACT
The article discusses how the emergency department (ED) attending physician can be held liable for a patient's outcome even in cases when he did not see the patients. Kevin Klauer, chief medical officer for Emergency Medicine Physicians in Canton, Ohio says that it is true because the ED is responsible for all patients in it, especially in cases of there only being a single physician. The liability for residents, risks with midlevels, and bad outcomes in boarders are highlighted.
