ABSTRACT
In this article the author reflects on several developments related to prosperity, freedom and peace in Afghanistan following the U.S. invasion in 2001. She cites progresses in the areas of education for women, human rights, politics, and public service. She comments on the failure to uphold justice and security under a protracted conflict. The author also cites the success of the Afghan government in raising a professional Afghan army.
