ABSTRACT
An introduction is presented in which the editor discusses various reports within the issue on topics including a longitudinal study to focus on barriers and disadvantages of higher education, the concept of developing critical thinking in higher level study and the projects designed to encourage the progression of students from poor backgrounds to higher education.
